Pioneers’ Meet

April 9-10, 2011

-Dr L N  Tluanga, Advisor, MEGF

This was a very special event.  It was called GAUHATI EU GOLDEN JUBILEE – cum - Pioneers’ Meet in which Gauhati University alumni of 50 odd years ago and senior people who had been involved in Students’ ministry over many years were invited to attend and participate along with current EU/EGF members of Guwahati.

It was initiated by Prof Tali Alinger, who in 1960  with Mr Lalawia (L), both of them students in GU, started the Gauhati EU on their knees.  Miss Awon Shanglai, Staff Worker of UESI-NE followed it up with efficient and patient organization.  The responses were unpredictable and in the midst of last minute disappointments and regrets, it was far better than expected; and the Lord should have all the glory.  I had the privilege of being invited as Speaker for this programme, although I declined at first, on Awon’s insistence and the Lord’s compulsion, I obeyed!  And I did not regret it.

The venue was in the CBCNEI Centre, Panbazar, Gauhati on Saturday the 9th and in the University Campus on Sunday the 10th. The current General Secretary of CBCNEI himself viz. Rev Dr A K Lama happens to be former Zonal Secretary of UESI-NE from whom we received very warm welcome and support.   The programme went very well indeed with delightful surprises.  It was so encouraging to see senior alumni of Gauhati University of more than 50 years ago, mostly from Shillong, who have retired as Principal, Professor, Chairman/Member of State Public Service Commission, etc as well as those in late 60s and early 70s.  We heard very inspiring and challenging testimonies from all of them; some of them are still in active service in Government, Schools, Colleges, Business and in Christian ministry.  On Saturday, meetings were held in the L M Hostel auditorium the whole day.  After self introductions and testimonies which filled the whole morning, there was meditation on Psalm 103 led by me in the afternoon along with a few more sharing and testimonies.  Current EU groups also contributed special numbers and various items and also did all the reception, ushering and sale of special beautifully designed T-shirt for the occasion.  Our heart cry was truly BLESS THE LORD, O MY SOUL; AND ALL THAT IS WITHIN ME PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!

Sunday service/meeting in the Seminar Hall of the University was truly remarkable.  College students (EU members) from Engineering and Ayurvedic Colleges gave special number, choreography by the Medical college group and efficient hosting by the University EU who even succeeded in persuading the Vice Chancellor to attend the meeting!  A special song sung by the lady pioneers was really moving and very touching.  Another very singular item was solo by Rev S K Miller from Shillong who made it a point to participate in the meeting despite other important engagements – he was asked to sing twice!  Testimony from Mr Rothanglien Hmar (1960-62 batch) who resigned from IAS to serve the Lord full time in Diphu, Karbi Anglong was noteworthy as well as the sharing by Mrs Kilemla (1969-71 batch) who is now member of Nagaland Public Service Commission.  The Lord enabled me to give the gospel message based on God’s graceful initiative in choosing us (John 15:16) and enabling us to serve Him “in holiness and righteousness all our days” (Luke 1:74-75). This was well received and I had the privilege of counseling one student of Engineering College who surrendered his life to the Lord Jesus!  The meeting was followed by PRAYER WALK under the guidance and direction of Mr Amzad DeCruse and his wife Yoorila, Interserve India Partners actively involved in Students’ Ministry.

The closing programme of the Get-together was preaching by Prof Tali Alinger at the evening service in the Panbazar Baptist Church in which the ‘lady pioneers’ again gave a special number!  May all honour and glory be the Lord Jesus only!

STUDENTS’ CENTRE DEDICATION SERVICE HELD

April 3, 2011 Over scores of EGS members and EU students witnessed the Dedication service of our new STUDENTS’ CENTRE in Dawrpui Vengthar locality yesterday morning at 8. These attendants clapped their hands in applause as Dr L. N. Tluanga cut the ribbon the entrance after pronouncement based on the great commission found the gospel of Matthew.

The dedication service was chaired by Mr Chhawnvunga, the in-coming president of MEG for the year 2011, and who is also a veteran EGF member in the state. The dedication service follows the relocation move organized last Saturday in which over twenty volunteers came out to help.

There was a series of speech and reports in this small gathering, and the event was topped off with a sumptuous breakfast sponsored by Mr. Sam W. Joseph, the incumbent president of the Mizoram EGF. The new STUDENTS’ CENTRE, given an official house number D – 32, relocated in Dawrpui Vengthar locality, is an apartment block within a building occupied by the AGAPIA SOCIAL CENTRE, a ministry run by our close friend Rev Kim Sang Soo from South Korea. He generously shared this block for us as he had learned of our apprehension following our eviction order from our previous location. The UESI ministry is grateful to him for his timely intervention, and even more so as he was never intent on charging us a house rent! Rev Kim also assures us that UESI can use the Worship room complete with its musical instruments and other ancillary rooms up above anytime we want.

Our apartment block includes a spacious drawing room, a kitchen, a bedroom for staffroom which Sis Amulin happily occupies, and a bathroom with toilet attached. Located at the Temple-Vaivakawn main road, the approach provides easy access for UESI family across Aizawl, and the compound’s wide parking lot will offer hassle-free parking for those coming with their vehicles at the meetings.

NEW STUDENTS' CENTRE OCCUPIED

March 26, 2010 By the grace of God today we were able to move into our new apartment for STUDENTS’ CENTRE in Dawrpui Vengthar locality. About 20 EGF and EU members came out to help with the transition, loading up all our belongings onto a truck and arranging them in our new home.

Today’s big move sealed weeks of our uncertain future as we had been notified to leave our Mission Veng location months earlier.

The new apartment block is generously shared to us by Agapia Social Centre, a ministry run by our close friend Rev Kim and his family, whose office rooms are located on upper floors . This ministry even opens itself up by allowing us to use its worship hall, complete with musical instruments, and other ancillary rooms for Bible study and other activities.

Our new apartment is a three-room block, with a bathroom attached, and opens onto a beautiful view of the western parts of the city.

Let us praise God for His faithfulness.

DISPATCH FROM EGF PRAYER CELL MIZORAM UNIVERSITY

March 3, 2011 The precious grace of Heavenly Father, the salvation of Jesus Christ and the endless providence of the Spirit had been with us through our respective vacation. We have been credited another year to witness, preach and evangelize our fellow students to the path of our Saviour. It is a privileged status, and praise be the LORD. The first prayer meeting for this session was organised on February 11, 2011, at 3:15 PM, MSW Ist semester classroom, attended by 10 students of varied discipline with the presence of Sir JC Zomuanthanga and a faculty member of History Department, Joseph Lalzarliana. We are deeply committed to organizing PRAYER MEETING sessions in all the working weeks throughout this semester. So, this Mizoram University MEGF Prayer Cell implores all available prayer support from brothers and sisters elsewhere for the smooth functioning and beneficial moments and increasing attendants in the days ahead. May God bless MEFG.

Report: LALTHASANGA, PRAYER ORGANIZER, MZU EGF PRAYER CELL

 CONDOLENCE CEREMONY

On November 16, 2010, MEGF conducted a condolence ceremony in honor of  Ms A. Khualzingi  (66)  M/o Bro Benjamin Vanlalruata, who went to her heavenly abode on May 18 this year. The program started at 7 PM and was chaired by MEGF Secretary Bro James Lalrinawma while message was delivered by Bro Kenneth Laltanpuia. Bro Benjamin spoke on behalf of the family, recounting the unfortunate sickness that had befallen his beloved mother and the events leading up to her sudden demise. As a mark of expressing its deepest condolence MEGF also offered a framed citation to the bereaved family.  Bro Benjamin’s family needs our continued prayer support as his aged father is bed-stricken due to diabetes and other physical weaknesses that he’s been battling against for a couple of years now.

Last Prayer Meeting for the Year Held at Mizoram University

November 12, 2010 Today marks the last Prayer meeting session of EGF MZU Prayer Cell for the year. Started at 3:30 PM, today’s gathering is a special meeting as it is chaired by Bro. Lalrotluanga, one of last year’s Prayer Organizers, who has come back from his hometown Tripura after spending his post-MA days there, while a Bible Study on the story of Mary and Martha’s reception of Jesus is conducted by Staff Worker Sis. Amulyn Lyngdoh. Although classes in Mizoram University have mostly been wrapped up and students are few, today’s meeting attendance is well over 15. The Bible Study is followed by a mass prayer over subjects contributed there. It is encouraging to learn that despite the hectic academic schedules and long distances in the harsh climatic conditions of Tanhril, MZU Prayer Cell has been faithfully run by the Prayer Organizers, Bro. Sangtea and Sis. Sawmi, throughout the past months mobilizing students for prayer service every Friday evening. Let us pray for all the EGF members and former EUs who are in the University as their time for end semester is just two weeks ahead.

DTC 2010 SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTED

The 2010 Discipleship Training Camp successfully concluded on the morning of October 9, under clear weather condition at YHAI, Luangmual. Despite the resumption of rainy weather since the start on the evening of October 5, the camp program moved ahead like a clock work, with virtually every item in the schedule neatly inserted as planned. One week ahead of the camp, a daily prayer meeting for the camp had been launched, and initial steps had been taken much earlier with the involvement of EMF planning committee for the DTC. The campers who were from seven colleges under Aizawl ICEU not only expressed their individual benefits and the lessons they had learned during the camp but also vowed their continued observance of important EU identity markers like Quiet Time and Bible Study in the future. The organizers hugely thank the camp directors and all those who contributed for the success of the camp in terms of availability as resource persons and volunteers, donating finance, and offering constant prayer for the camp. The following break-up gives us about the campers representing the participating colleges.

A Week of Prayer for DTC 2010

As the time for the Discipleship Training Camp for this year is approaching, preparations are underway, with the EU and EGF in- charges putting efforts to get everything well- organized. Organized by the Information and Registration Department of DTC 2010, the daily Prayer Meeting was started on October 27, at 4:00PM at Students Centre. The regular prayer meeting has since been held every day and will be up until DTC next week. MEGF Visits Govt. Zirtiri Residential Science College

September 30, 2010 The ongoing MEGF visit program to EU units took them to Government Zirtiri Residential Science College EU yesterday. The service was started at 4:00PM and was chaired by Bro Zothana, Vice-President of Aizawl Inter-Collegiate Evangelical Union. Bro T C Lalduhthlana gave a talk on the UESI ministry and its links. Just the day before the same EUs had been visited by Sis Amulin, UESI Staff Worker based in Aizawl. The visiting team was glad that although the EUs there were comparative small in number, their commitment level was high.

          PUC Visited by MEGF

September 24, 2010 On the day the President of India is making her maiden voyage to Mizoram for the Mizoram University convocation, some MEGF members paid a visit to Pachhunga University College. The service started at 3:00PM. Although the turnout was about fifty, this was a small number the EU leaders said, compared to their regular gathering services daily. Within a limited time EGF members were able to interact with the leaders, urging them to work harder and to continue setting examples for other EU units under Aizawl ICEU to follow.

Moments from GRADUATE MINISTRY CONSULTATION

On September 21, a consultation program was conducted the whole day for the newly- established Graduate Department under UESI-NE. The program was a rigorous and participatory one, and an important milestone for the EGF representatives from the participating Meghalaya and Mizoram EGF representatives.

MEGF Sets Out for GRADUATE MINISTRY CONSULTATION (GMC)

September 18, 2010 For what has been one of the most remarkable developments in the UESI- NE zone during this year, Bro James Lalrinawma, MEGF Secretary, and Bro T.C. Lalduhthlana, left for Shillong at about 4:15 PM aboard the bus of Capital Travels service under the cover of an inclement weather that has already been causing series of landslides throughout the state. But our two EGFs are hardly dissuaded by this weather condition. The two representatives of the Mizoram Evangelical Graduates Fellowship set out to attend a program entitled “Graduate Ministry Consultation” for the newly birthed department of UESI-NE, the GRADUATE DEPARTMENT, early this year. The consultation program, which is an important precedence that aims to comprehensively anticipate a panoramic perspective of this new department’s ministry, has been launched with a team of resource persons brought in from the National EGF establishment. Starting their interactive consultation since September 10, the team has already met with EGF representatives and UESI-NE staff members and Coordinators from our various bases in Nagaland, Manipur and Assam. During September 20 and 22, they will meet with Meghalaya and Tripura representatives in Shillong in their sessions with the Mizoram representatives. They will also meet with EGF units from Arunachal during September 23 – 25.

The concept of GRADUATE DEPARTMENT is new here in north east, but it is an exciting new venture. Sister Awon Shanglai is the Secretary of this department. Let us all pray for the huge success of all the sessions of this consultation and for the wisdom of the Secretary and the officials concerned to plan and execute rewarding programs under this prospective body.

RIPANS EU (BABUTLANG) VISITED BY Mizoram EGF

September 17, 2010 A blessed time of fellowship was spent as the Mizoram Evangelical Graduates Fellowship visited EU cell of RIPANS (Regional Institute of Paramedical Nursing and Sciences) at Babutlang, Aizawl where there were about thirty hostellers. The service, preceded by a praise and worship led by the music committee of the host EU, started at 7:30 PM , and attended by over twenty EU members of the hostel and the visiting team that consisted of six EGF members. The service was chaired by Sis Merlyn, President of the RIPANS (Babutlang) EU cell, and the message centering on the theme of “Fellowship” was delivered by Bro. Lalnunkunga, an EGF member looking after the copyediting work of the monthly bulletin, MEGF LINK. The visiting team was hugely impressed by the performance of the relatively small community through the reports of the secretaries, especially in terms of their financial strength and support to AICEU and UESI-NE, both of which they regularly gave their contribution on a monthly basis.

The service was followed by a time of discussion bearing on many aspects of the student ministry, the practical challenges, and other concerns. The visiting team encouraged the EU committee members to keep going strong and share with them some of the practical ways and means in which to lead a body like theirs successfully, and also on how to negotiate certain aspects of Christian life in order to win over more the hearts of more friends and their non-Christian classmates, including how to get the ministry going in a more interesting format.

In RIPANS, two services are held weekly, one a Friday night service, and another one a Sunday morning Prayer Service. All the eight north east states of India are represented by the hostellers here, who are the final year and pre-final year batches. Since a couple of years back the EUs at Babutlang have been one of the backbones of ICEU in Aizawl. Today, the leaders are committed and willing to work for the Lord. Surely God is going to use them mightily. Let us all pray for our dear sisters at RIPANS hostel, Babutlang.

September 17, 2010 The Mizoram EGF paid a visit to ICFAI Evangelical Union on the eve of 17th September, 2010(Friday). A brief report was given by ICFAI EU secretary, followed by EGF EU report from Bro. T C. Lalduhthlana, MEGF LINK Editorial Team. Bro. Zauva, who was in charge of EGF EU units visit, gave a short message on the important of “Quiet time”. The congregation also had a great time for action songs which was really exciting and a new thing to many of the members. The program ended at around 4:30PM and the attendants were served with tea and wholesome bread for refreshment.

DTC 2010 Schedule Drawn up by Mizoram EGF

September 10, 2010 The much-awaited Discipleship Training Camp 2010 schedule is out finally. MEGF committee meeting that stretched well into midnight last night drew up a tentative schedule for this important event that we hold on a yearly basis since 2003. Earlier the Aizawl ICEU Executive Committee had requested the EGF Mizoram to draw out the DTC program. This year's DTC will be held at Youth Hostel Association of India, Luangmual, during October 5 - 9. EGF participation on this year’s DTC will be more hands-on than the last two years’ DTCs , with Sister Rinpuii, MEGF Prayer Secretary appointed as the director for this camp and all the receptionist work, medical, transportation arrangement, and mess will be under direct supervision of MEGF members designated for these tasks. Aditionally, Aizawl ICEU will also appoint another camp director from among themselves to assist the graduate director.  According to this schedule two Doctrinal Studies, one Ministerial session, two Practical Talks, a quiet time, singspiration/praise & worship, devotion, and games sessions  will fill the day, with Group Bible Study and time for assignment concluding a typical day's schedule just before Lights Off hour at 10 PM. Last night's meeting also drew up list of food items and some rough mess schedule for the camp with a view to minimizing the cost in as much as possible.  Now, Aizawl IECU will follow through this schedule and will soon drive awareness campaing for this huge event.

Already ICEU Aizawl has been busy raising funds and they still require some considerable amount. They are also yet to choose the theme for the camp soon and organize mobilization of EU volunteers for this camp. As we are slowly inching toward this significant event, join with us in prayer and other aspects of the camp you may find yourself useful in.

MEGF visits Govt. Aizawl College Evangelical Union

September 8, 2010 As a part of fulfilment of it's year-long plan, the MEGF visited EUs of Govt. Aizawl College during their worship service at 12:30 PM. The attendance was well over one hundred, with nine EGFs and Staff Worker comprising the visiting team. Govt Aizawl College EUs had long been actively engaged in AICEU affairs until few years back, and today's visit was all the more important for this ministry because Resource person Bro. James Lalrinawma, Secy MEGF exhorted them to carry on the noble work of EU ministry in their campus, encouraging them to stand up for their faith despite strong peer pressure. Weeks earlier the college EU was visited separately by Bro T.C. Lalduhthlana and Staff Worker, Sis Amulin Lungdoh, who both enlightened them with the nature of UESI ministry. The college EU have their regular worship services on monday, wednesday, and friday, with friday's service being conducted in English. Today's visiting team, while praising the EU leaders for their efforts and hard work, also suggested to them to look for ways to mobilize the EUs for Prayer meetings during a week in future. Traditionally, Govt Aizawl College has been very reticient when it comes to involving in the UESI ministry through Aizawl Inter Collegiate Evangelical Union, but this year we are determined to break that wall, and AICEU is also trying it's best to integrate them. You may join hands with us in this endeavor through you prayer.

UESI Mizoram records two songs for UESI-North East Music Album

September 5, 2010 As National UESI is preparing to bring out its first ever music album under Urban Student Ministry Department, UESI in Mizoram is doing the polishing work of refining its music tracks before sending them down to authorities for final mixing. In this novel project, two songs from Mizoram UESI Mizoram will be included among the handiwork of EUs/EGFs from other states across India. One song entitled " I Love You Forever" is sung by Sis. Lalruatfeli, an EU of Pachhunga University College, and also the lead singer of a popular Gospel Rock band in Mizoram, Dr. Luke. Another song, " Goin' Home" is sung by Bro. Frankie, music secretary of Pachhunga University College EU, and a budding artist, sought after to perform on many public functions. Both the songs are written and arranged by Bro Mark V.Vanlalrema, Treasurer of Mizoram EGF, solely for this project. Let us pray that God will see through this new venture on the part of UESI, and that all the music in this compilation will be a source of blessing to those who listen to them.

DTC 2010 TO BE HELD IN OCTOBER

September 4, 2010 The Aizawl Inter-Collegiate Evangelical Union sat for its executive committee meeting today. In this meeting, the main topic of dicussion was about how to hold this year's Discipleship Training Camp. After gauging all eventualities and possible events that are forseeable within the next couple of weeks, AICEU decided to hold DTC 2010 during the second week of October at Youth Hostel, Luangmual, a location used last year for the same purpose. This year's DTC will see some crucial change in its organization as the AICEU this time hands the charge of Directorship to MEGF, who they hope will handel the whole affair including the program schedule, the finance, and the mess concerns. AICEU is prepared to aggressively work toward raising fund to meet the budget, which will be prepared by the MEGF special body.

Discipleship training Camp is an important yearly event for UESI here in Mizoram that has been conducted since 2003. The OB is yet to decide the camp director who will be from the EGF. AICEU covets your involvement through fervent prayer, voluntary work during the camp, and your financial gift as we are in the run- up to this wonderful opportunity to train our students to become effective in their personal life as disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, and to contribute more for this exciting ministry of ours.

Aizawl West College Evangelical Union visited by MEGF

August 31, 2010 The Mizoram Evangelical Graduates Fellowship (MEGF) visited the EUs of Aizawl West College during their noon time worship service at one of their classrooms. The service held between 12:30 to 1:30 was attended by over 70 EUs from the college, including 9 EGFs who went there to enlighten them on our ministry and to encourage them to stand up for their faith in a relatively small community of students. Bro T.C. Lalduhthlana expounded the four aims of our ministry followed by Bro Ramfangzauva who shared the topic of Prayer and its importance for our Christian walk of life, including quiet time. The visiting team was grateful for the EU leaders who worked hard to mobilize their friends for such gathering. Until a year or two ago AWC was an evening college, and so partnering with  EUs of other colleges was a major roadblock in their co-operation  under AICEU. The visiting team also suggested to the leaders to hold more regular fellowships in terms of prayer meetings or some such kind during the week apart from their regular worship service on tuesdays. Significantly, many who attended this service also immediately joined our ministry's free sms group service there and then, bringing up the total number of subscribers to 395. With the dynamics flowing in this direction, we are hopeful that this wonderful EUs from Aizawl West College will become a source of strength to AICEU and a blessing to many students around them.

SUCCESSFUL AICEU FUND RAISER

August 18, 2010 Today as the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, under Govt. of India kicked off an education counseling program that will last for four days, AICEU was in the limelight as sixteen EUs from Pachhunga University College and Govt. Zirtiri Residential Science College played the roles of receptionists and ushers during the event held at Chandmari YMA Hall, Aizawl. This novel educational program launched by the Govt. will ensure that at the prestigious institution, Indian Institute of Future Trends (ITFT), Chandigarh, an ST student from states like Mizoram, aged between 18 to 21, can be enrolled successfully and with full expense for the education paid by the government. AICEU will be rewarded with Rs 5,000/- for their duty today. Meanwhile it’s not certain whether they will be called in to serve the visitors in the three days ahead. It is wonderful to learn that this arrangement has been made possible by one of their Sr. Advisers Mr. P. L. Thanga, IAS (Retd) who is himself a board member in this government body, and a very important government official in the state of Mizoram.

My sincere appreciation and congratulations go out to all those involved in bringing this about under the initiative of Napoleon R.Z.Thanga and Mark Vanlalrema, who are active members of MEGF and Senior Advisors of Aizawl Intercollegiate Evangelical Union (AICEU).    AICEU WORKS OUT ITS PLANS FOR THE YEAR

The first executive meeting of Aizawl Inter-Collegiate Evangelical Union for the tenure 2010 -2011 was held on July 31, 2010 at the residence of one of their senior advisers, Mr. P.L. Thanga, who has had a long and deep involvement with UESI ministry in the past, advising EUs in the states he had been posted as an important government official. In the spacious room of his residence at Chaltlang locality, the meeting started at 11:30 am and ended two hours later. Representatives from the different units participated well in the meeting, except for three units that either had exams going on or had some other college activities.

The meeting laid out plans for the year consciously putting each of them under the framework of UESI that crystallizes its principles into EVANGELISM, TESTIMONY, FELLOWSHIP, and MISSION. These items include One Day Evangelistic Retreat, increased awareness among EU about the need of Personal Evangelism through friendship, encouraging EUs in the colleges to get more involved in their college activities through news magazines and various clubs, sustaining monthly financial help to UESI-NE with Rs 500/-, and organizing a joint Orientation program for the AICEU leaders and OBs of local EU units on August 8, 2010 at English Congregation Church. It was also resolved that two service meetings a month be held, one a Bible Study at every first Saturday noon, and the other a joint worship service with MEGF every third Saturday noon. The committee was glad to discuss the possibility of forming an EU unit at ICFAI, Aizawl, upon a report by one of its members who had had a dialogue with some of ICFAI’s students earlier, the initialization of which would be speeded by the AICEU leaders.

The proposed time for Discipleship Training Camp (DTC) 2010 was also nailed down to the third week of September, 2010. There will also be EU units visitation program starting off from Pachhunga University College on August 7, 2010 at their Worship Service. In order to raise AICEU funds, undertakings like selling out 250 copies of a book by the renowned local Christian intellectual Dr. P.C Biaksiama, and doing ushering works for some educational and career counseling exhibition will be executed. These fund raisers were facilitated by their Sr. adviser Mr.P.L.Thanga, whose extensive influence will pave more ways for the EUs in the coming months. Additionally, at the time of Inter-College Sports, a week-long sporting event involving all the colleges in Mizoram, AICEU will also sell food items to raise funds. With the idea of uniting units more closely, the meeting also resolved for immediately implementation issuance of a common song book to be used by every EU unit under the in-charge of AICEU music secretaries.

UNCLE TLUANGA CELEBRATES

50th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

We give our heartiest congratulations to Uncle Tluanga and Aunt Biaki on succesful completion of their 50 years of examplary married life as they celebrated this milestone on 22nd July, 2010. The family has been so much of a blessing to UESI ministry especially for us in Mizoram. They are truly our role models and inspirations for us. May the LORD bless them more in the years to come.

A special and memorable night A special and memorable night

EGF VISTIS EU MEMBERS OF WOMEN POLYTECHNIC ON JULY 21

ON the night of July 21,2010, Mizoram EGF visited EUs of Women Polytechnic College, hammering in the nature of UESI ministry. The EU unit joined Aizawl ICEU in 2006, but due to their remote location up on a hillside on the northern fringe of the city, interaction with the EUs had not been efficiently sustained by EUs of other units. This time, in an effort to seriously put them on the right track in UESI ministry, on this night 8 EGFs and 3 AICEU leaders set out to have a meaningful program with them. The two- hour-session was packed with messages by the visiting team that were thematically the essential UESI identities. There is a huge potential stored inside of this EU unit, and the ardent eyes of the EUs reflect excitement in the ministry. Pray for these young EUs that God will give grace to learn their ministry well, and well being to study their lessions with flying colors.

MEGF LINK Team Dinner Party

An open home is often the bastion of some of the UESI ministry's most remarkable projects that have gone on to become successful undertakings. With Brother T C Lalduhthlana, offering his apartment generously, like he always did, to host the MEGF LINK news team meeting on the evening of July 24, 2010, the stage was set for some revolutionary milestone. This news team was a result of a major shakeup in the monthly bulletin's management advocated by the Mizoram Evangelical Graduates Fellowship (MEGF) committee meeting earlier. Since its initiation and regular circulation since last year the LINK's main content, it had been understood, concerned mainly if not most of the state EU's activities and news, and colleges under Aizawl Inter- Collegiate Evangelical Union (AICEU) got their share of copies monthly. So it has been decided that the bulletin might as well go more broad in publicizing EU news besides regular EGF's. It had also been felt that since AICEU alone was not in a position to issue a monthly bulletin for its constituent units. This way MEGF LINK was destined to double up as EU's main channel for information.

On this particular evening, a meeting was convened to plan the road ahead for the bulletin. And those present were excited to be serving the Lord through this unique way, evident explicitly in their own sharing session just before the big dinner. The meeting was particularly determined to capture the possibilities of the information technology, a wonderful platform that they hope would also open the door for more creativity for the bulletin.
Now, Brother Jedid can heave a sigh of relief and he can laugh away those busy fridays that found him scrambling to get to the press, editing the materials, and finally launching the issues on first saturday morning Bible Study sessions, all in the middle of turbulent academic schedules. As this team is an assembly of all the EU units secretaries and presidents that will serve as correspondents, and an editorial team that includes spoken English school owners and English Literature students, the hope is that the bulletin will contain comprehensive as well as literary write-ups that will inspire all the readers in a fresh, new way every time they pore over the new issue every month.

EU BIG DAY OUT! the greatest event ever in the history of UESI ministry in Mizoram finally arrived on the 27th May, 2010 at KP Picnic Resort, Sihhmui. This Outing Program, organised by the Mizoram Evangelical Graduates Fellowship (MEGF)has been “Prayerfully intended to be a major milestone for EU ministry in today’s Mzioram, formerly and currently involved in the ministry..” as the secretary of EGF has put it.
All arrangements were made, and with the members on the five buses and others with their own vehicles we headed toward the place which we all had long looked forward to with eagerness. On reaching the picnic spot, all the members who were assigned to different duties got themselves busy straight away. There were few others who did their registrations on the spot and it’s delightful to mention that we had some some guests who were from outside of the state, from the record kept by the Inforrmation and Publicity Department, 154 members including 120 EUs, 29 EGFs and 5 other non-members could participate in the event.

In this mega event, we had Ms. Rinpuii and Mr. James Lalrinawma as our hosts. The program began with Bible reading and prayer.Right after this, greetings introductions and announcements from the secretary MEGF followed in which all the members present and all the leaders of the EGF were introduced to the EU members. Then an inspiring message from Dr L.N Tluanga was read out by Uncle Chhawnvunga, MEGF vice president since Dr L N Tluanga could not turn up due to his busy schedule. This was followed by the introduction and consecration of AICEU leaders 2010 and MEGF Prayer Cell leaders of MZU. The newly appointed leaders of AICEU are from different college units of Aizawl city. Uncle Chhawngvunga offered a prayer for the newly-consecrated leaders. Right after this program, we had a great and exciting playing some Bible games conducted by Mr. R.Lalnunkunga in which members were divided into groups and prizes were also given away to some of the lucky winners.

After a couple of Bible games we had about half an hour refreshing ourselves with great cold drinks. The refreshment break was followed by the presentation of a very important theme, “Keeping the Faith in UESI Ministry Today” from Brother Mark, treasurer MEGF. Next, praise and Worship session began, and this was taken up by RIPANS EU unit.
This session was followed by two-by-two fellowship in which members got divided in pairs and started to have wonderful and precious moments sharing whith one another the word of God. It’s delightful to see and hear young boys and girls sitting in pairs and sharing the word of God and talking about today’s EU ministry. Then we had free time entertaining ourselves with swimming, chatting with friends while some went around taking photos with friends. At around 4:30 a great dinner was served which we all enjoyed having it.
Before the end of the program we got together once more and Feedback Sheets were given to all the members and then we ended the mega event, "EU BIG DAY OUT!” with the song
“Bind Us Together” and we all said our goodbyes to our dear brothers and sisters in Christ.

The speaker of the event was Rev. V.Laldingliana, brother of the first UESI-NE Zonal Secretary Rev Lalmalsawma Vanchhawng, who delivered a powerful exhortation to the outgoing dstudents. Like any of their worship service, the event was not without galore of some interesting special items from one of the striongest EU units in Mizoram. Four EGF members attended this memorable event and came back home impressed by what they saw there.

REPORT ON UESI-NE GOLDEN JUBILEE CONFERENCE

The delegates from Mizoram to attend the UESI-NE 50th Golden Jubilee departed from Thuampui CH. Saprawnga Bus Terminal at 4:00 pm after Bro. Napo prayed.

It is indeed a tremendous opportunity for us to be delegates as there will be no other Golden Jubilee for UESI-NE again. During our journey to Shillong, we didn’t face much problem because God was with us and also because of all of you who have prayed for us. We reached Barapani at around 8:00 am, and immediately all of us got very busy registering ourselves before we were put into different places of accommodation.

All the sermons were very good and the different sermons gave us different views to change our lives and to enlarge our own tent. One thing I like to share is that we were prepared to present a song during the evening session of the first night. We told our friends from different states to cheer for us, but when the time came, the chairman did not call us. We were very shocked at this, and later, our friends asked us why and we told them we didn’t even know why. When Brother Mark inquired the reason, the chairman told him that he did not see us among the audience and so did not call out our names! This is something we are going to remember most.

The schedule of eating food was not the same as Mizoram, and because of that some of us missed some meal. It was also a good experience to take bath with cold water at 5:00 am in the cold Barapani morning.

Every delegate will have his or her own story to tell, but as a whole it’s difficult to point out all. But the good thing is that PUC EU Band presented one song, and all the Mizoram delegates presented a group song entitled “Ni Tla Ngai Lo Zion Khawpui”, which will be an unforgettable moment.

After staying 4 nights at Barapani, we departed on 1st January, 2010, and we reached SHillong at around 4:00 pm. We stayed at Baptist House, and with the help of Brother Mark, we were able to have free dinner there with the members of Mizoram Baptist Church in Shillong.

At night, we had devotion period along with sharing, questions and answers time from all of us.We discovered many personal secrets from each other, eapecially from the EGF members. But unfortunately one of our friends, Parteii, from PUC got sick and was unable to be with us. But she was alright by the time we left Shillong.

On 2nd January,2010, we visited UESI-NE headquarters, Shillong, and the staff worker there told us everything about the centre and we benefitted a lot from him. After that we had a short time for shopping, and some of our friends got lost momentarily. We were on our bus to Mizoram at 5:00 pm to go travel back home.

It is because of the sacrifice of our leaders financially and morally that we could be the delegates from Mizoram, and our thanks also go to Brother Nepo for making us the Mizos proud by covering the event with his video camera.

Last but not the least, I thank the Almighty God who gave me energy and health throughout the trip.

September 5, 2009. Aggressive on raising funds, Aizawl Inter-Collegiate EUs are packing pickle for resale as one way to generate money for upcoming DTC Camp to be held on October 5-10. Serious prayer and financial support is required for this year's DTC as the time is getting really close. As prepararion gets underway, remember specifically in your prayers the place for the camp, which has still been undecided, and the main speaker to open the theme of the camp. The most important thing, though, is to remember that God provides all His children's needs and to give thanks to Him for everything He has done for us.

DTC Reunion cum EGF outing, 14 Aug 2009

On 14 of August 2009, in an historic event, the MEGF organized for the first time DTC Reunion -cum- MEGF outing at Bewraw tlang, on the outskirt of the capital city, Aizawl. About 74 DTC campers from the 2006-2008 camps and 15 EGF members attended the auspicious occasion, including the specially invited EUs from the units under AICEU. The event was marked by inspiring paper presentations from senior EGF members of the state, lively discussions, refreshing games, and praise & worship sessions. It was great to see everyone enjoying the day in high spirits. Not only did old friends connect with each others, but the participants met with new brothers and sisters standing on the same common ground. There is a strong feeling that this occasion will help revamp UESI ministry in Mizoram, imbuing it with  more power and enthusiasm, uniting them together once more with a smile on their face no matter what, a genuine joy as displayed there when the event was topped off with a grand dinner under cover of a beautiful evening.
