Listen to Dr. L.N.Tluanga as he clearly spells out who we are.

Vision Statement:

"UESI seeks to evangelize post-matric students in India, nurture them as disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ that they may serve the Church and society."

UESI works at two levels - Students and Graduates. The student group is known as Evangelical Union (EU). Graduates are those who are EU alumni or the non-students who may or may not have a University degree. The graduate group is known as Evangelical Graduates Fellowship (EGF). The whole movement is known as the Union of Evangelical Students of India (UESI).

Origin:

UESI ministry started in India in November 1951 in Vellore, with the formation of EUs among student communities, ignited by Professor Enoch and an Australian dentist, Dr. John Moody. Immediately, these groups formed Madras Inter - Collegiate Evangelical Union. In 1959, UESI was affiliated to International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES), one of the largest bodies of students with evangelical ideals in the world.

Uniqueness of UESI:

V UESI is Bible-believing

V UESI is evangelical

V UESI is evangelistic

V UESI is a fellowship of new life

V UESI is interdenominational

V UESI is spiritually centered

V UESI is financially independent

V UESI is an Indian Organization

V UESI is International in its sympathies

V UESI is neither a church nor a sect

AIMS of UESI:

& Evangelism: To present the claims of Jesus Christ so that other students may come to a personal experience of  Him as Savior, Lord and God, through the new birth

& Fellowship: To have fellowship with all students of like precious faith for mutual help and growth in the Christian life, especially by means of Bible study and prayer, and to encourage one another in witnessing for Christ

& Testimony: To raise in the Colleges a testimony to the truths of the historic Christian faith, and present their message for the whole of life and the problems of mankind.

& Mission: To present God's missionary command and so to help students discover and obey His will for them at home or abroad in world evangelization.

Doctrinal Basis of UESI:

There are ten doctrinal statements that together form the UESI Statements of Faith. They are evangelical, interdenominational, historical and scriptural in nature and are as follows:

  1. The unity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit in the Godhead.
  2. The Sovereignty of God in creation, revelation, redemption and final judgement.
  3. The divine inspiration and infallibility of Holy Scripture (by which we understand the 66 books of the Bible), as originally given and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
  4. The universal sinfulness and guilt of human nature since the fall, rendering man subject to God's wrath and condemnation.
  5. Redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin only through the sacrificial death (as our Representative and Substitute) of Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God.
  6. The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
  7. The necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit to make the death of Christ effective to the individual sinner, granting him repentance towards God and faith in Jesus Christ.
  8. The indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in the believer.
  9. The only holy universal Church, which is the Body of Christ, and to which all believers belong.
  10. The expectation of the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

UESI believes in the immeasurable richness of God.
